Martini Day (JUNE 19)

“Martini, shaken, not stirred”; James Bond’s famous Martini quote has probably created more martini drinkers than all the gin joints in the world.

Martini (cocktail) is a mixed alcoholic beverage consisting of gin (55 ml) and  dry vermouth (15 ml) poured into a mixing glass with ice cubes, stirred or shaken, strained into chilled cocktail glass, and garnished with a green olive or a twist of lemon peel.  A classic martini is stirred so as not to bruise the gin – but the idea of bruising the gin is much debated. One agreed upon fact – a shaken martini will have a different flavor than a stirred martini.

Martini is best savored in a special cocktail glass that is uniquely designed to better preserve the drink’s taste. The slim stem of a Martini glass prevents your hand from coming in direct contact with the bowl containing the liquids. If your hand comes in contact with the cone part of the glass, the warmth radiated will destroy the drink’s flavor and renders it flat. Moreover, the cone shape of a Martini glass  is designed as such to keep the drink’s ingredients from separating.

Whether you like it stirred or shaken, dirty or perfect, straight or on the rocks;

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU OLIVES, MAKE MARTINI !!!
